After beginning piano lessons in 2nd grade, I started playing clarinet in 6th grade band. (I wanted to play the flute, but so did every other 6th grade girl so my band director suggested I go with my second choice and I am so glad I did!) Playing an instrument helps a student learn to be dedicated and work hard to grow as a musician and a well-rounded individual. I have met many of my best friends through music, and would highly suggest students continuing on through high school and beyond.
I began taking private clarinet lessons in 7th grade and quickly improved, participating in All-District and All-State Honors Band each year through high school. After graduating, I went to East Carolina University where I received my Bachelor's degree in Clarinet Performance and Mathematics. I then went on to The Ohio State University for my Masters, also in Clarinet Performance.
In addition to teaching private lessons for clarinet and saxophone, I am currently Principal Clarinet with the Wilmington Symphony Orchestra, perform with the Wilmington Symphonic Winds, and regularly play in the pit orchestras for musical theater productions at historic Thalian Hall.
